Rocket Air

30. April 2018

The BikeBuddies have seized the opportunity to ring in their first season with BikeBuddies at a very special Swiss bike event: The Swatch Rocket Air 2018!

The largest Swiss MTB Slopestyle Contest took place as usual in the ice hall Thun, which also presented itself this year from its best side. The co-organizers of the "Flying Metal Crew", with Ramon Hunziker as the top rider in the Downhill area at the start, have - as was to be expected - pulled through this year's motto "Future" at full throttle. While the audience and riders were able to enjoy the neatly cut mullet hairstyles (theme "80s") of the entire crew last year, there was a completely futuristic hall at the latest event replay. From everywhere, abstracted technology of the next millennium blitzed and blazed throughout the hall. The creatively decorated bike set-up harmonized perfectly with the costumes and the appearance of the organizers, and put the audience in an excitedly vibrating mood of the ominous year 3000.

In addition to all the futuristic glamor, the rock-hard and uncompromising mountain bike performances of the world's best slopestyle riders did not come up short. There was a veritable feast of tricks and technical subtleties to admire. If the future looks like that, you can really look forward to it!

The Bike Buddies team left the biking this weekend to the professional athletes and limited to making contacts with mountain bike enthusiasts and well-known names of the scene. In addition to the events experienced together in the daylight, this was also accomplished wonderfully at the grandiose afterparty in Legacy Club in Thun.  We thank all the happy faces and interesting people we met on that weekend, and last but not least the organizers for such an awesome experience.

We have been encouraged in our project to take the shared experience of our beloved sport to the next level.

To the summer with BikeBuddies, and many more that still come!
